Fill in the information, locate your GEDCOM in the "Browse" pull-down box, and click on "Upload".
- Information regarding Donor name, FTDNA kit number, family names and family origins is optional. This informtion will be shown to anybody who does a comparison after you provide them with your ID number. It serves to identify results with a specific individual.
- Although the file will upload without entering information in the other spaces, we urge you to at least enter your email address so we can contact you if we need to. You email address will also be displayed along with your results, which is only available to individuals to whom you have given your GEDCOM ID number. Other than that, we do not give your email address to anybody.
- Once the upload starts, it could take several minutes depending on the size of the GEDCOM, and the speed of your Internet connection.
- Currently, there is a limitation of approximately 15 Megs on file upload size. This would be a VERY large GEDCOM (over 50,000 individuals). If you have this much data, and experience problems uploading, contact the system administrator for help.
How long is my GEDCOM available on GEDmatch? Can I delete it after I'm finished?
- Currently, there is no process to automatically delete GEDCOMs. It is anticipated that they will be manually removed by the site administrators after some period of inactivity, probably 2 to 6 months. If, for some reason, you want your GEDCOM removed before that, send an email to the site administrator.
