I started using GEDmatch decades ago to discover family ties that don’t show up anywhere else. I love GEDmatch because it’s easy to use and has tons of information to mine. I discovered that I have a half-brother no one in my family knew about. We have developed a great relationship over the past two years!
Being able to mine very old DNA information — back to Neanderthal days is such a fascinating GEDmatch feature. For those bitten by the genealogy bug, GEDmatch offers hours (decades?) of fun.

Be patient. It takes a while to figure out how to use the information.
